Two D’Iberville Men Killed in Harrison County Crash Involving Military Bus

Two D’Iberville men were identified as the victims of a fatal multivehicle crash involving a military bus Tuesday in Harrison County, Mississippi.

According to Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer, the victims were 45-year-old Thomas Hanes and 48-year-old David Luckett. Both men were from D’Iberville and were driving separate vehicles at the time of the crash. Officials confirmed neither man was connected to the military.

The accident happened on Canal Road south of Interstate 10 and involved a military bus along with four other vehicles. Authorities said the crash began with a collision between the bus and a pickup truck before involving three additional vehicles.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Hanna Hendry said another person was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries, while several others suffered minor injuries.

Officials with the Naval Construction Battalion Center said the bus was part of a three-bus convoy, though only one bus was involved in the accident. Public information officer Jovi Prevot said ten people participating in the center’s Expeditionary Combat Skills training course were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

Emergency crews remained at the scene for several hours, and part of Canal Road was temporarily closed while first responders worked the crash.
